Refuting any suggestion that Mayan predictions claim the world will end in December 2012, one Mayan elder (a priest and spiritual guide) has a very different version of what the world is heading towards just now.
He tells us we are in a time of cosmic transition.
“As we pass through transition, there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth Changes.”Considering the recent unprecedented droughts, floods, snow-storms, gales, tsunamis, fires, sub-zero temperatures, volcanic eruptions, political upheavals, financial crises, declining human fertility ... he may have a point.
The Elder also tells us that 21 December 2012 will be a date of rebirth: there will be a cleansing which will lead us to a new and better world. If, that is, we have not, in the meantime, destroyed too much of our Earth beyond the point of no return.
He warns of “enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way” to that rosy future.
“They seek to unbalance the Earth and its environment so we will be unready for the alignment in 2012.” The strength of these forces lies in the pure focus of their intention on personal material gain: “just now, the dark side is very strong, and very clear about what they want. They have their vision and their priorities clearly held”. Their greatest fear is the unity of the people they must control for their own ends, and so “the dark side works to block unity through denial and materialism”.Can you read these words without thinking about the unbalancing effects of GM crops and the sore need to cleanse from our world, or the dark and powerful, single-minded, force of the biotech juggernaut with it's patents and spin and threats and control of the market?
In the space of one week at the beginning of February, at a time of spring and renewal in the world, we saw the dark side at work all around us.
President Obama extinguished the hope of his early promise to be a people's president: he has elected instead to join the rest of the 'Monsanto Minions' in government. Ignoring the 200,000 concerns raised by farmers, scientists, academics, conservationists, and food safety and consumer advocates, Obama has chosen to listen to a handful of agri-biotech companies. Direct orders issued by the White House instructed the US Department of Agriculture to abandon any idea of “controlled deregulation” of GM alfalfa which would have, for the first time, taken the reigns of GM out of the hands of the biotech companies. The Roundup-Ready grass will be planted this spring, and, like all GM crops in America, it will be untested, unregulated, unrestricted, and unlabeled.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), erstwhile protector of American farmers and farming, has become a protector of biotech. This rogue agency, it seems, is above the law: it has ignored an American court ban on the commercial planting of GM sugar beet and has declared it will allow Monsanto's Roundup Ready sugar beet to be planted again this spring.
In the UK, the coalition government has shifted position on GM from people-driven abstainer to industry-driven proponent. It's poised now to take a “much more aggressive stance” towards GM and put GM at the heart of it's agricultural policy.
At EU level, the Commission is set to abandon the precautionary principle and drop its zero tolerance policy on unapproved GM crops entering our food chain. Not unusually, the move was supported by the UK , but two countries which have always wary of GM in the past, Italy and Ireland, have changed sides. The health of the people, the safety of our food, and public trust in the EU regulatory system seem to have disappeared off its horizon: the biotech industry has succeeded in making more than 61% of the people of Europe invisible.
On the light side, the elder also tells us what we can do.
“The dark power ... cannot be destroyed or overpowered. It's too strong and clear for that, and that is the wrong strategy. The dark can only be transformed when confronted with simplicity and open-heartedness”. “No more darkness or light in the people, but an uplifted unity”. “We need to put our entire mind and heart into pursuing unity and unity now, to confront the other side and preserve life”.He stresses that:
“Now is the time to awaken and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here for no reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. This is a hard but a special time. We have the opportunity for growth, but we must be ready for this moment in history.”The elder adds advice to take special care with our diet. Food is fundamental to our clarity of thought and focus.
“Eat wisely – a lot of food is corrupt in either subtle or gross ways. Pay attention to what you are taking into your body.”He finishes with a reminder that “The real knowledge is free. It's encoded in your DNA”.
OUR COMMENT
Real knowledge is also encoded in the plant's DNA. Genetically corrupt food feeds your body corrupt knowledge, and is intrinsically damaging.
The message here is that we have to act to balance the dark side, not by fighting it, but by the invincible power of unity.
There's enough knowledge about the GM issue here on GM-free Scotland to give you the clarity of understanding you need. Use this clarity to make your focus as singular as the biotech industry. In this way you can can help yourself and others to choose natural food and a healthy future.
Encourage everyone you know to inform themselves about GM. Start by passing on GM-free Scotland articles to them.
